Big Daddy Kane, born in Brooklyn, is one of hip-hop’s most influential figures, rising to prominence in the Golden Era with his unmatched lyricism, charisma, and fashion sense. He paved the way for icons like The Notorious B.I.G. and Jay-Z and made history as the first rapper to headline two sold-out, all-female attended shows at Harlem’s Apollo Theater. In 1987, Kane began his career with Cold Chillin’ Records as part of Marley Marl’s legendary Juice Crew, where he penned hits for fellow members and helped define the crew’s sound.
